HELLO
WE ARE
YAWAR
I am a dreamer with both feet on the ground a woman who believes in the power of purpose, beauty, and tradition. Yawar was born from my desire to merge my love for business, sustainable fashion, and my Peruvian roots. Through this project, I bring to life designs that not only dress the body but also speak to the soul.
Yawar Sustainable Design celebrates Peru’s most exquisite natural fibers pima cotton and alpaca renowned globally for their quality and softness. These fibers come to life in timeless pieces crafted by artisan women who embroider stories, symbols, and culture into every thread. By honoring their hands and their heritage, I also fulfill my own mission: to empower women, create opportunities, and restore value in craftsmanship.
Embroidery has been a healing journey for me.
Designing brings me joy.
Yawar is my voice, my dream, and my companion on this immigrant path in the United States.
I dream of becoming an ambassador of Peruvian culture through fashion.
Will you help me make that dream a reality?
Yawar was born from the question, “What do I do now?” I had resigned from my job in the corporate world and decided to take a sabbatical year traveling to the U.S. with my daughter.
During the pandemic, I met an embroiderer with whom I worked on some garments. I was captivated by hand embroidery, which to me is magic, so I decided to create Yawar as my adventure companion.
Time passed, and Yawar grew both in Peru and the USA. Managing the business remotely continues to be challenging. I worked with just one embroiderer for eight months, and I learned to embroider myself, which I find therapeutic to this day. I used to think I wasn’t skilled with my hands, always working more with my “head.” However, I discovered that I indeed had the skill.
The time came to return to Peru (2022), determined to organize everything to grow Yawar. I traveled to Cusco and Ayacucho in search of magical hands that still accompany me. We are a team of women from Cusco, Lima, and Ayacucho, mothers who share a story.
A change in my life was approaching, the decision was made, and I would return to live in the USA. None of this would have been possible without my parents, to whom I am grateful for their example of perseverance and support, which has allowed us to keep moving forward.
The idea of Yawar was created on March 19, 2021. If you wonder how I manage the business remotely, I can only tell you that I was on the verge of giving up many times. However, the purpose of Yawar is what wakes me up in the morning, motivated to resolve whatever comes my way.
At Yawar, we exist to share our culture through timeless designs that tell stories.
Our mission is to raise awareness about sustainable fashion, revalue the ancestral art of hand embroidery, and empower women through dignified, creative work.
Every garment has a purpose beyond aesthetics.
The impact of this project transforms lives from better nutrition and education to the recognition of artisanal work and the improvement of family homes.
This is what fuels my purpose every day.
We may be a small team, but our dreams are limitless.
When you choose Yawar, you’re not just buying a piece of clothing.
You are uplifting Peruvian artisan women, supporting their dreams, and helping their stories reach the world.
From Peru, with love to the world.
At Yawar, sustainability is woven into every thread.
We create timeless, conscious fashion using natural fibers like Pima cotton, alpaca, linen, and Andean woven mantles made with sheep wool, crafted by Peruvian artisans through fair and ethical practices.
